CareerLine asks for your birth date to ensure you have crossed the minimum age to use our site. Depending on the labour and non-discrimination laws of each country, some employers/recruiters may also require such information.

The privacy and security of your data is critical to us. We employ various application and infrastructure level controls to ensure that your data is well protected and held private.
Through our Data Protection Policy, we ensure that:
  • Only you can access your profile - using your registered email and password or via Facebook and Google+.
  • No public profile is maintained. Your profile is only accessible by you and shared with prospective employers you choose to engage with.
  • Your profile data is kept in a fragmented form so that anyone trying to access your profile by hacking into the system will find it difficult to piece together the information.
  • We do not share your profile data with any external entity.
Security:
  • We have employed adequate security measures at the application and infrastructure level to ensure that your data is well protected and secure.
  • As part of risk management, we continuously conduct system level vulnerability checks to ensure that threats are mitigated.

Each document that you upload can only be up to 5MB (30 MB for videos).

There is no limit to the number of records you store within your CareerLine profile. However, each document that you upload can only be up to 5MB (30 MB for videos).

Careerline FAQHow do I reduce file size to fit the file upload limit?

Usually, files with images will significantly increase the file size. You can try reducing the file size by reducing image resolution, applying compression, cropping unwanted portions of the picture or using an external editing program.

Careerline FAQHow do I save my data?

It’s always a good idea to save your data before logging out or turning off your device. Click on the "Save" button to save your work.

Careerline FAQI had to go finish something else while in the middle of updating my CareerLine. Will I have to start from scratch when I come back?

To protect the security of your account, CareerLine logs you out automatically after 5 hours. If you are called away, though we do have auto save functionality it’s always a good idea to save your work before you step away.

Careerline FAQWhat happens to my data if I do not save my work and log out of CareerLine?

CareerLine will alert you of unsaved data (if any) and you choose to save or ignore the updates you have made before logging out.

Careerline FAQI have forgotten my password, so how do I go about resetting it?

Simply click on "Forgot Your Password" and enter your email address (i.e. your CareerLine username). CareerLine will send you an email to reset your password.

Careerline FAQWhat do I do if I forget my CareerLine username or if I need to change it?

Your registered primary email address is your username. To recover or change your username, please connect with our Support team by clicking on the Chat/Email icon on the bottom right of your screen. If you have used either Facebook or Google+ to sign up with CareerLine, you simply need login with your Facebook or Google+ login.

Careerline FAQI was in the middle of a live chat and the chat box disappeared. How do I retrieve the chat box?

The visibility of the chat box could be affected by your Wi-Fi or data connectivity. If this happens again, check your connection. If it is weak, you may have to refresh your network or contact your service provider. If your connection is operating at a good working level and you are still unable to connect to us using the live chat box, please send an email to Support Team and we will work with you to investigate the problem.

Careerline FAQWhy was my account disabled on CareerLine?

Your account could get disabled due to the following reasons:
  • Five consecutive wrong password entries. This is to prevent unauthorized access
  • Severe violation of the CareerLine Terms of Use

Careerline FAQCan I create multiple profiles in CareerLine?

Your email address, Facebook or Google+ profile (whatever you used at the time of registration) serves as a unique identifier and can only be used once.

Careerline FAQDo I have to complete every section/field in my CareerLine?

The registration process requires that you complete the mandatory fields to set up your CareerLine. However, to get the most out of your CareerLine, we recommend completing the remaining fields and sections - spending as little as an hour a week on your CareerLine is a worthy investment. A frequently updated CareerLine ensures you are always prepared for exciting career opportunities and that best-fit jobs find you.

Careerline FAQWhy do I have to verify my CareerLine account?

While you don’t need a verified account to update or access your CareerLine, you do need a verified account if you want to apply for the best-fit jobs that are sent to your Inbox. CareerLine only allows you to apply for jobs if you have a verified account.

Careerline FAQI have not received a verification email yet? What should I do?

Please check the spam or junk folder of the email account you used to register with CareerLine. If your verification email is in either of these folders, depending on the mail client you use, please add us to your ‘Safe’ list or click ‘This is not Spam’. If you don’t find the mail, please connect with our Support team by clicking on the Chat/Email icon on the bottom right of your screen.

Careerline FAQHow long will it take me complete my profile on CareerLine?

It takes less than a minute to register and 5 minutes to complete your core registration. We recommend using the “Resume Parser” tool to quickly update your records. If you add information manually it may take between 5 - 30 minutes to complete each section depending on the amount of information you add about your career and development history. Having documents handy (such as your resume, training records/certificates etc) will help you build a powerful profile quickly.

You can upload files in any of the following formats - *.doc, *.docx, *.rtf, *.pdf, *.html or *.txt

Careerline FAQWill the Resume Parser tool update my profile accurately?

While we have tested for accuracy, unfortunately it will not be 100% correct. Given the multiple formats resumes come in, it’s always a good idea to verify your information has been accurately populated, and edit as required.

CareerLine is designed to be your constant career companion. We believe that your relationship with CareerLine depends on your career situation. At a minimum, we recommend you update your CareerLine profile at least once a month - particularly your experiences, development goals and aspirations.

Updating your profile is a breeze. All you need to do is login and start updating.

Careerline FAQWhat do the question marks ? mean?

We’re glad you noticed! The question marks are Help Pins and they’re there to help answer any questions you may have while completing and reviewing your information. Help Pins include the field name, definition and example(s).

Careerline FAQWhat does an asterisk in a box mean?

The asterisk stands for a required field. Required fields are highlighted to ensure you provide us with all bare minimum information needed so best-fit jobs are sent your way.
However, we do recommend that you update more than just the required fields. The more complete your CareerLine, the more we will be able to support your career aspirations.

Careerline FAQWhat is the relevance of inputting dates regularly throughout the CareerLine site?

Dates add credibility to your profile and enable you to showcase your CareerLine history and development.

Careerline FAQCan I remove my personal data or files from CareerLine at any time?

Yes. Your CareerLine is your personal and private space to collate your career and development information. Only you can edit your profile, including deletion of data and files.

Careerline FAQIs it possible to connect with other CareerLine members?

Not at this time. CareerLine’s focus is on providing a private space for individuals to document and deliver their career aspirations. Hence, your interaction within CareerLine is restricted to prospective employers and recruiters.

Please note that salaries you have recorded for current and previous jobs will not be made available to prospective employers at any time.

Careerline FAQWhat does Local Plus mean in an employment contract?

Local Plus is a type of employment contract generally used when an employee is working outside of their normal home country. The principles generally are that you are paid in the host country currency, but receive additional benefits or allowances for housing and children's education, which are not normal benefits provided to local employees.

Employers and recruiters will generally be interested in seeing your complete employment history to assess your suitability, career progression and motivation. Any gaps in your career history may potentially invite questions.

Careerline FAQThe "Industry" for my company is inaccurately presented. Can I correct or change this?

Whilst we have worked hard to get all enterprises or organisations correctly classified - we appreciate that sometimes they may not be. We therefore appreciate your suggestions in correcting these. There is a "Change" button next to where the Company Industry classification is shown. You can click on this button and select what you believe is the right classification from a wide list of options. If you can't find your Industry, please click on the Other "Can't find what I want on the list" from within the picklist where you will be prompted to provide some further details in an email. You can expect a response from the CareerLine Support Team within 48 hours on your industry classification.

Your personal CareerLine is automatically presented in date order, therefore it does not matter. However, it is often easier to start with your most recent position and work back in time.

Industry refers to how CareerLine has categorised companies, organisations and enterprises based on their primary business operation or activity. Industry data is important for CareerLine in ensuring target jobs and information is delivered to you.

Competencies are a group of behaviours which if consistently demonstrated at work will help you to be successful in your job. In your CareerLine, we have selected a set of competencies based on your current/latest career level recorded in your Career History. We encourage you to complete a self assessment of your ability against this list to identify areas of strengths and development opportunities. For each competency, start by reading the definition and rate yourself against the highly effective behaviours examples, using the four star rating. After completing this assessment, you will be ready to proceed to the Career Goals section to develop a plan to work towards achieving your career goals. Remember this information is for you only so the accuracy of your rating will assist you in developing further in the future.

The Reviews section records all your work performance related documents such as performance reviews, references and commendations which add credibility to your career profile. The reference checking procedure (if required) will take place during the job interview process after the Hiring Manager obtains your referee contacts and approval to proceed.

CareerLine is a global career site, so you can receive jobs that match your CareerLine profile from anywhere in the world. It is critical that you specify your job aspirations clearly in the Job Preferences section.

CareerLine helps you to build a personal CareerLine profile that enables you to effectively share your personal brand history and career aspirations. This CareerLine profile enables you to take control of your career by seeing more job opportunities locally, regionally or globally. This will vary depending on your CareerLine profile, job preferences and availability of opportunities. Generally, the more open you are in your job preferences, the more we would expect a greater number of opportunities to appear. Using the CareerLine Application Tracker on your CareerLine homepage allows you to monitor progress on any job you have applied for.

This will vary depending on your CareerLine profile, job preferences and availability of opportunities. Generally, the more open you are in your job preferences, we would expect a greater number of opportunities to appear. In addition, the interview, assessment and job offer process can vary from company to company.

Careerline FAQI was notified via email of a job broadcast in my "Jobs" folder. However I cannot locate it in my CareerLine homepage after a few days.

CareerLine will notify you when there a new job arrives at your Jobs folder. You will have five (5) days to review and confirm your interest as per the hiring process. CareerLine will send you a reminder if you have not responded before the 5th day. A response is not required if you are not keen to proceed with the application. If you do not click on "Confirm Interest" after 5 days, CareerLine will remove this job from your Jobs folder.

Careerline FAQIf I missed a job broadcast (after the 5 days response period), how do I request for the job broadcast to be sent to me again?

You will not be able to retrieve the job broadcast. Should the Hiring Company decide to re-broadcast the job, you may receive the invitation again. It is important you update your current email address in your CareerLine so that we can send you important notifications and reminders.

Careerline FAQAfter confirming my interest to proceed with a job application, I was asked to complete a few questions and share my CareerLine Profile with the prospective employer. Can I send my application without completing the questions?

The questions are included in the early stage of the application process to assist the Hiring Manager in the screening of applicants. Your response to the question(s) will help the Hiring Manager to know more about your work experience and knowledge in addition to your CareerLine Profile. Therefore we highly recommend you answer the questions and submit along with your profile sharing, however the final decision is yours.

Careerline FAQHow do I contact the Hiring Company if I have a question before or after sharing my CareerLine Profile.

You may contact the Hiring Company or Hiring Manager via the messaging feature in your CareerLine Inbox.

Careerline FAQWhat does it mean when the job I applied to sent me a notification saying the job will not be progressing any further?

Sometimes a business situation or decision may call for a need to terminate a hiring activity. When this happens, CareerLine will notify all affected candidates via a message to their CareerLine Inbox.

Careerline FAQI have applied to a job but decide to withdraw my application. How do I notify the Hiring Company?

You may contact the Hiring Company or Hiring Manager via the messaging feature in your CareerLine Inbox.

Careerline FAQCan I delete message threads relating to jobs in my CareerLine Inbox?

Yes, you may delete items in your Inbox. Should you decide to delete a message thread related to a job, all messages within the thread will be deleted permanently.

How long will it take me complete my profile on CareerLine?

It takes less than a minute to register and 5 minutes to complete your core registration. We recommend using the “Resume Parser” tool to quickly update your records. If you add information manually it may take between 5 - 30 minutes to complete each section depending on the amount of information you add about your career and development history. Having documents handy (such as your resume, training records/certificates etc) will help you build a powerful profile quickly.

What types of files does the Resume Parser tool accept?

You can upload files in any of the following formats - *.doc, *.docx, *.rtf, *.pdf, *.html or *.txt

Will the Resume Parser tool update my profile accurately?

While we have tested for accuracy, unfortunately it will not be 100% correct. Given the multiple formats resumes come in, it’s always a good idea to verify your information has been accurately populated, and edit as required.

How often should I access my CareerLine?

CareerLine is designed to be your constant career companion. We believe that your relationship with CareerLine depends on your career situation. At a minimum, we recommend you update your CareerLine profile at least once a month - particularly your experiences, development goals and aspirations.

How do I update my profile?

Updating your profile is a breeze. All you need to do is login and start updating.

What do the question marks ? mean?

We’re glad you noticed! The question marks are Help Pins and they’re there to help answer any questions you may have while completing and reviewing your information. Help Pins include the field name, definition and example(s).

What does an asterisk in a box mean?

The asterisk stands for a required field. Required fields are highlighted to ensure you provide us with all bare minimum information needed so best-fit jobs are sent your way.
However, we do recommend that you update more than just the required fields. The more complete your CareerLine, the more we will be able to support your career aspirations.

What is the relevance of inputting dates regularly throughout the CareerLine site?

Dates add credibility to your profile and enable you to showcase your CareerLine history and development.

Can I remove my personal data or files from CareerLine at any time?

Yes. Your CareerLine is your personal and private space to collate your career and development information. Only you can edit your profile, including deletion of data and files.

Is it possible to connect with other CareerLine members?

Not at this time. CareerLine’s focus is on providing a private space for individuals to document and deliver their career aspirations. Hence, your interaction within CareerLine is restricted to prospective employers and recruiters.
However, we would love for you to join our CareerLine communities on Facebook, Google+ and Twitter and interact with your fellow CareerLiners.

If I am not looking for a job, what are the benefits of completing my CareerLine?

The name shown on the name card on the top left is your name as shown in the "About Me" section. To change the name on the name card, go to "About Me" section and update this data.

What is the reason for presenting my photograph in black and white rather than colour?

Photographs are important to potential employers. We believe that a black and white photograph looks more professional when printed.

What will be the impact to receiving job notification if I do not complete my salary information?

There is no impact if you do not provide salary information. When you do provide this information, CareerLine is able to target more relevant jobs and share with you the market rate of pay and benefits for the industry, function or even specific roles you are interested in. Please note that salaries you have recorded for current and previous jobs will not be made available to prospective employers at any time.

What does Local Plus mean in an employment contract?

Local Plus is a type of employment contract generally used when an employee is working outside of their normal home country. The principles generally are that you are paid in the host country currency, but receive additional benefits or allowances for housing and children's education, which are not normal benefits provided to local employees.

How far back do I go with my Career History?

Employers and recruiters will generally be interested in seeing your complete employment history to assess your suitability, career progression and motivation. Any gaps in your career history may potentially invite questions.

The "Industry" for my company is inaccurately presented. Can I correct or change this?

Whilst we have worked hard to get all enterprises or organisations correctly classified - we appreciate that sometimes they may not be. We therefore appreciate your suggestions in correcting these. There is a "Change" button next to where the Company Industry classification is shown. You can click on this button and select what you believe is the right classification from a wide list of options. If you can't find your Industry, please click on the Other "Can't find what I want on the list" from within the picklist where you will be prompted to provide some further details in an email. You can expect a response from the CareerLine Support Team within 48 hours on your industry classification.

In Career History, do I start with my current job or first job?

Your personal CareerLine is automatically presented in date order, therefore it does not matter. However, it is often easier to start with your most recent position and work back in time.

After I enter my company name in the Career Section, the "Industry" field appears. What does this mean?

Industry refers to how CareerLine has categorised companies, organisations and enterprises based on their primary business operation or activity. Industry data is important for CareerLine in ensuring target jobs and information is delivered to you.

What are competencies?

Competencies are a group of behaviours which if consistently demonstrated at work will help you to be successful in your job. In your CareerLine, we have selected a set of competencies based on your current/latest career level recorded in your Career History. We encourage you to complete a self assessment of your ability against this list to identify areas of strengths and development opportunities. For each competency, start by reading the definition and rate yourself against the highly effective behaviours examples, using the four star rating. After completing this assessment, you will be ready to proceed to the Career Goals section to develop a plan to work towards achieving your career goals. Remember this information is for you only so the accuracy of your rating will assist you in developing further in the future.

How do I update my Career Status?

CareerLine allows you to update your Career Status by simply one click! At the top left of your CareerLine page above your name are these icons . Just click on one to change. Alternatively, you can do the same at the Job Preferences section.

Will the people I have included in the Reviews section be contacted?

The Reviews section records all your work performance related documents such as performance reviews, references and commendations which add credibility to your career profile. The reference checking procedure (if required) will take place during the job interview process after the Hiring Manager obtains your referee contacts and approval to proceed.

Does CareerLine only provide jobs in the country I live or anywhere in the world?

CareerLine is a global career site, so you can receive jobs that match your CareerLine profile from anywhere in the world. It is critical that you specify your job aspirations clearly in the Job Preferences section.

How can CareerLine help me find jobs?

CareerLine helps you to build a personal CareerLine profile that enables you to effectively share your personal brand history and career aspirations. This CareerLine profile enables you to take control of your career by seeing more job opportunities locally, regionally or globally. CareerLine will send you jobs that align with your career profile and job preferences, so it is critical that you specify your job aspirations clearly in the Job Preferences section.

What is the job searching process in CareerLine?

CareerLine is not a job searching site. CareerLine will send you jobs aligned with your career profile and job preferences.

How long will it take to receive a job notification(s)? Can I track my progress?

This will vary depending on your CareerLine profile, job preferences and availability of opportunities. Generally, the more open you are in your job preferences, the more we would expect a greater number of opportunities to appear. Using the CareerLine Application Tracker on your CareerLine homepage allows you to monitor progress on any job you have applied for.

In addition, the interview, assessment and job offer process can vary from company to company.

I was notified via email of a job broadcast in my "Jobs" folder. However I cannot locate it in my CareerLine homepage after a few days.

CareerLine will notify you when there a new job arrives at your Jobs folder. You will have five (5) days to review and confirm your interest as per the hiring process. CareerLine will send you a reminder if you have not responded before the 5th day. A response is not required if you are not keen to proceed with the application. If you do not click on "Confirm Interest" after 5 days, CareerLine will remove this job from your Jobs folder.

If I missed a job broadcast (after the 5 days response period), how do I request for the job broadcast to be sent to me again?

You will not be able to retrieve the job broadcast. Should the Hiring Company decide to re-broadcast the job, you may receive the invitation again. It is important you update your current email address in your CareerLine so that we can send you important notifications and reminders.

After confirming my interest to proceed with a job application, I was asked to complete a few questions and share my CareerLine Profile with the prospective employer. Can I send my application without completing the questions?

The questions are included in the early stage of the application process to assist the Hiring Manager in the screening of applicants. Your response to the question(s) will help the Hiring Manager to know more about your work experience and knowledge in addition to your CareerLine Profile. Therefore we highly recommend you answer the questions and submit along with your profile sharing, however the final decision is yours.

How do I contact the Hiring Company if I have a question before or after sharing my CareerLine Profile.

You may contact the Hiring Company or Hiring Manager via the messaging feature in your CareerLine Inbox.

What does it mean when the job I applied to sent me a notification saying the job will not be progressing any further?

Sometimes a business situation or decision may call for a need to terminate a hiring activity. When this happens, CareerLine will notify all affected candidates via a message to their CareerLine Inbox.

I have applied to a job but decide to withdraw my application. How do I notify the Hiring Company?

You may contact the Hiring Company or Hiring Manager via the messaging feature in your CareerLine Inbox.

Can I delete message threads relating to jobs in my CareerLine Inbox?

Yes, you may delete items in your Inbox. Should you decide to delete a message thread related to a job, all messages within the thread will be deleted permanently.
